Age is irrelevant. I can&#8217;t show you how many old ladies passed me in that first marathon. Young, old, large, small, thin, wide, whatever, they were all operating a marathon. It was amazing.</p>
<p>2. Arriving first no matter. Finishing does. Within a marathon, everyone that crosses the final line is a winner and receives a medal. That&#8217;s good because I certainly am not only a fast runner. Just making it to the end is really a major accomplishment. I do think life is prefer that. To be successful you don&#8217;t need to have the most or be the best or even the fastest &#8211; just make it gracefully towards the end.</p>
<p>3. Survive the trial mile. My family and i have come to learn which the first mile of each one training run was always the trial mile. It absolutely was the mile you possessed to get through before your heart and body warmed up and also got into its rhythm. Basically you sense lousy during that first mile. But when you can make it through it you generally felt better during the following miles. A lot of people never survive the &#8220;trial mile&#8221; of whatever endeavor they may be pursuing. <p>6. We&#8217;d like friends. Good company makes any journey nicer.</p>
<p>7. Don&#8217;t stop. We occasionally have a tremendous urge to quit, to give up, to admit defeat. Having the ability to overcome those urges and make going makes all the difference in life.</p>
<p>8. Every day life is a marathon, not really a sprint. When I first began practicing a marathon I&#8217;d personally start off running in a quick pace. I would personally do well for any mile or so and then run completely beyond gas. My significant other had to tell me I needed to slow down and chill out. I had to pace myself. It wasn&#8217;t easy to start with but I soon learned I couldn&#8217;t spend all I did during the first mile or I&#8217;d never pull through the other 25.2 miles. In most other areas of life the identical rule applies. Do not.</p>
<p>9. You need a coach. I consider myself a relatively smart person and will figure out several things on my own. Playing with looking back within my training for my first marathon, I can&#8217;t imagine executing it without the help of my significant other who had the experience of training for and building a marathon herself.
